Christopher K.P. Brown Upcoming Performance Dates

Around this time last year, while doing a feature performance in Atlanta I told the crowd that that would be the last time I’d be performing for about a year. I told them how I was going to spend the next year working on idea I had in mind. The idea was Poetry247.com.

I actually did stop performing and I actually did put my efforts toward that idea. The response has been great so far as Poetry247 is concerned. It’s been time w…ell spent so far. However, I’m a poet at the end of the day and right now I really miss the stage.

Therefore, I’ve set up about 12 features over the next two months (hoping to add more). I hope you can make it out. Would be great to see some familiar faces AND some new ones as well. The schedule is below. Will see you soon. Peace.

Great Museums: The Dusable Museum (Chicago)

There’s so much culture and history to tap into in cities all across the U.S. Normally, when I get to spend some signficant tim in a new city I’ll try to go check out its African American or Black History museum. I like connecting the present to the past. Here’s a piece on the DuSable museum in Chicago. Enjoy.

Murder To Excellence

I really had no plans of buying Watch The Throne. I rarely buy new music but for some reason (probably all of the hype) I always end up buying Jay Z and Kanye albums the week of their release. So this morning I went ahead and purchased Watch The Throne, pretty much because I thought about how I always enjoy their albums. I enjoyed the entire project but this is definitely my favorite track from the album. Check it out. And definitely purchase the album soon. Peace.

Romare Bearden – Artist (from Harlem Renaissance Era)

Up until age 13 I always dreamed of being a famous artist. I won a few art contests and what not when I was younger. I actually started college as an Art Major. Whenever I decide to stop working on poetry I’ll probably pick up a paint brush again. I truly believe that words can get in the way sometimes. Sometimes an image can accomplish a lot more. I love art. And Romare Bearden is an artist I learned about as a child. I still love his work. He comes out of that Harlem Renaissance era. It sometimes bothers me that they’re aren’t any household Black artists today. But that’s probably due to the media we use. We look at images online as opposed to going to art galleries (which is actually something pretty cheap to do).
