4am. Wed. Dec. 14. Poetry won’t allow me to get on a regular sleep schedule. Oh well. I’m pretty much over it and used to it. It’s 4am and I’ll be up for at least another two hours. Currently in DC. Went to Baltimore last night. It was my first time featuring at Organic Soul. Something weird has been happening lately. I don’t ever really feel comfortable on stage anymore yet I’ve been getting good responses to my show. The last time I really felt comfortable was in New York about a month ago and I was about halfway into my set by the time I realized that the crowd was actually enjoying it. I know the main thing is that I need to write new poetry (which I am doing) because I’m started to get bored with the set of poems I have right now. My newest piece was memorized and performed in September which means I’ve gone three months without introducing a new poem to the stage. I’m a writer. At the end of the day I was born to write. So normally, for years, I would have a new poem every two or three weeks. I want to get back to that. Like I said I’ve been writing but being older I also have more of a desire these days to actually revise my poems and make sure there aren’t any ways to improve a particular piece. That’s where I am with about five or so poems right now. They’re written. I just want to perfect them. Luckily I only have one more show this year and this small break will give me time to finish up some poems I’ve started and will allow me to pump out some new pieces. Most likely these new pieces will be put on my new mixtape or album. I’m about to get to work on Straight, No Chaser Volume 3. I’m also about to get to work on my next album, Cranberry. That’s all for now. About to go grab a pen (maybe two) and a notebook. Peace.
